Background: Domestic accidents constitute the predominant cause of mortality in children under five years of age. First aid response can reduce handicap and enhance the likelihood of survival for the injured youngster. The majority of these accidents can be averted by enhancing maternal awareness and optimizing the home environment.
Objective: To identify level of Parents' Knowledge Concerning First Aid Management of Domestic Accidents in Children Under Five
Methodology: A descriptive cross-sectional study design was employed in this research to assess the level of parental knowledge of first aid management of domestic accidents involving children under five, conducted from November 2, 2024, to April 6, 2025. A convenience (non-probability) sample of 262 parents was obtained from Al-Urouba and Al-Tali'aa Primary Health Care Centers. The data were collected through interviews using the Knowledge Regarding First Aid for Domestic Accidents among Under-Five Children questionnaires (29 items ) to measure the problem statement. Data were analyzed and interpreted using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), version IBM 26.
Results: The findings of this study reveal that 51.5% indicated a poor level of understanding, 35.8% a fair level, and 12.6% a good level.
Conclusion: The results demonstrate that parents' understanding of first aid management for household incidents involving children under five is predominantly insufficient.
Recommendations: The study recommends implementing need for training programs, such as community awareness programs and first aid training, to improve parents' preparedness in handling domestic injuries in children under five years of age. Strengthening parental knowledge in this area could significantly reduce preventable complications and enhance child safety.
