Abstract

Advances in the medical and pharmaceutical sciences are reshaping the global health landscape, but the challenges confronting many African countries call for a uniquely integrated response to the challenges. Rapid population growth, the dual burden of infectious and non-communicable diseases, infrastructural challenges and disparities in access to healthcare require scientific innovative as well as contextually relevant solutions. The interface between medicine, pharmaceutical technology, and biological research provides the best platform for them to develop such solutions.
