Abstract

Introduction: Biomedical waste management is an essential part of hospital infection control and environmental safety. Improper disposal of biomedical waste can cause environmental contamination and spread infectious diseases such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and HIV/AIDS. Health care personnel are directly involved in handling biomedical waste; therefore, adequate knowledge regarding safe waste management practices is necessary. The present study was conducted to assess the knowledge regarding biomedical waste management among health care personnel.
Materials and Methods: A quantitative research approach with a descriptive survey design was used for the study. The study was conducted among 100 health care personnel selected through non-probability convenience sampling Who met the sampling criteria.
Results: The findings showed that knowledge level, only 43% had adequate knowledge regarding biomedical waste management and there was no significant association between knowledge level and selected demographic variables by statistically.
Conclusion: The study concluded that regular educational programs, workshops, and training sessions are recommended to improve awareness and promote safe biomedical waste management practices among health care personnel.
