Abstract

Medication errors remain a significant challenge in emergency medical wards due to high patient volume, time constraints, and complex therapeutic protocols. These errors can lead to adverse patient outcomes, increased healthcare costs, and reduced quality of care. Automated smart drug dispensing systems have emerged as an effective solution by integrating advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and barcode-based verification. These systems ensure accurate drug selection, precise dosage validation, and secure medication dispensing. In addition, real-time tracking mechanisms enable continuous monitoring of drug movement from storage to administration, enhancing transparency and accountability. The use of clinical decision support systems further aids in identifying potential drug interactions and dosage discrepancies, thereby minimizing risks associated with manual processes. By reducing reliance on human intervention, these systems significantly decrease medication errors and improve workflow efficiency in high-pressure environments. Furthermore, the integration of automated dispensing systems with electronic health records facilitates seamless data exchange and supports informed clinical decision-making.
