Abstract

Enzymes are the ideal metabolic catalysts, which permits the occurrence of various endogenous biochemical reactions through a well-defined pathway. The Enzymes accelerate various biological reactions that are key in sustaining human life, by lowering reaction activation energy without undergoing any permanent change. Understanding the pharmaceutical role of enzyme in its synthesis of hypolipidemic drugs; The process is based on three bioenzymatic activities: the ketone reductase, glucose dehydrogenase and a halohydrin dehalogenase. The role of L-phenylalanine/L-tyrosine ammonia lyase, glucose oxidase and other microorganisms which produces enzymes useful for pharmaceutical purposes are discussed.
