Abstract
As global healthcare systems face rising costs and nursing shortages, the integration of commerce-based management strategies into clinical settings has become essential. This study examines the application of Lean Management a methodology originating in the manufacturing sector—within adult health nursing units. The primary objective was to evaluate how Lean principles influence workflow efficiency, medication error rates, and nurse job satisfaction. Using a mixed-methods approach in a large urban hospital, the study found that "Value Stream Mapping" reduced non-value-added activities (waste) by 22%, leading to a significant increase in bedside care time. The findings suggest that adopting management-centric frameworks can bridge the gap between financial sustainability and high-quality nursing care.
