Quality assurance has become a critical component of pharmaceutical supply chain management due to increasing regulatory requirements, patient safety concerns, and the growing complexity of healthcare delivery systems. The pharmaceutical supply chain encompasses procurement, manufacturing, storage, transportation, distribution, and dispensing of medicines, each of which requires stringent quality control measures to ensure product integrity and therapeutic effectiveness. Failures in quality assurance can result in medication errors, counterfeit drug circulation, product recalls, financial losses, and adverse patient outcomes.
The present study evaluates the role of quality assurance practices in pharmaceutical supply chain management from the perspectives of operational efficiency, service quality, and healthcare outcomes. Using secondary data obtained from published literature, healthcare quality reports, pharmaceutical industry studies, and regulatory documents, the study examines the impact of quality assurance systems on inventory management, product quality, customer satisfaction, supply chain performance, and healthcare service delivery.
The findings indicate that organizations implementing comprehensive quality assurance frameworks achieve superior operational performance, reduced wastage, enhanced customer satisfaction, and improved healthcare outcomes. Furthermore, effective quality assurance contributes to regulatory compliance, risk reduction, and sustainable organizational performance. The study emphasizes the importance of integrating quality management principles throughout pharmaceutical supply chains and provides recommendations for healthcare administrators, quality managers, and policymakers.
