Abstract

Background: Tacrolimus is the cornerstone of immunosuppression after renal transplant. Patient awareness regarding its role, dosage, timing, and side effects directly affects adherence and graft survival. Aim: To assess the level of awareness about the role of tacrolimus in prevention of graft rejection among renal transplant recipients. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among 80 renal transplant recipients using purposive sampling. Data was collected using a structured knowledge questionnaire. Results: 62.5% had moderate awareness, 25% had inadequate awareness, and only 12.5% had adequate awareness. Conclusion: Overall awareness was moderate. Significant knowledge gaps exist regarding drug interactions, signs of rejection, and side effects. Structured education programs are recommended.
