Abstract

A journey of love, development, and change is what motherhood is all about. Taking care of a child involves many different facets, including the psychological, emotional, and physical. Women's lives are profoundly shaped by this journey, which involves joy, hardships, and progress. The complications of caring for a small human have become apparent due to the overwhelming duties of motherhood. Motherhood is a never-ending job that involves restless nights, unending anxiety, and balancing obligations. Antenatal, intranatal, and postnatal care are crucial stages in guaranteeing the mother's and the unborn child's health and wellbeing. After the baby is born and lasts for the first six weeks, postnatal motherhood is an extremely important stage. During this time, a woman adjusts psychologically and emotionally to the demands of caring for a newborn while simultaneously recuperating physically following childbirth. The psychological, emotional, and physical aspects of caring for a child are just a few of the numerous aspects involved. The study employed a conceptual framework based on Wilson and Cleary's model of health-related quality of life. The goal of the current study is to evaluate the variables affecting the quality of life of postpartum mothers in order to produce an educational booklet for a few Palakkad hospitals. Eighty postpartum mothers who are in the third and forty-second postnatal days at a particular hospital in the Palakkad region make up the sample for this study. This study was authorized by the institutes' Research Ethical Committee and adhered to strict ethical guidelines to protect respondents' rights. According to the study's findings, of the 80 postpartum women, 36 (45%) had good quality of life, 43 (53.75%) had average quality of life, and 1 (1.25%) had poor quality of life. The original purpose was to examine the factors impacting postnatal mothers' quality of life. Examining the connection between postpartum mothers and the variables affecting their quality of life was the second objective. There is a strong correlation between maternal age and life quality. The findings showed that most of them had an average quality of life. The study also discovered a considerable relationship between maternal age and postnatal quality of life.
